Today will be the last update on this URL… however, hop on over to http://teacupsandcouture.com ! We  ( meaning : me + the voices in my head) have outgrown wordpress.com and are now under an independent server, but still under wordpress -I know, more confusing than a hairless cat. The only difference is that you don’t have to type “wordpress” in the URL anymore, so it works out well for us lazy typers!

So, in other words- update your links, your readers, (ie. bloglovin’, etc) and re-subscribe to the new site. I tried to import all the subscriptions, but it rejected like a drunk John Galliano at a Bar Mitzvah. Anywho, I’m trying to do this as smooth as possible for my dear readers, but it’s not working. So just re-subscribe to the new blog by clicking on the green email icon on the top-right corner of the new site . It will take you to a Feedburner page that lets you subscribe with just an email (you don’t have to have a Feedburner account). And Voila! My insanity will flood your inbox on a daily basis!

I will still keep this site up for archives , but the other site will be where it’s at. If you are another blog linking here, look for the post in the new site- chances are , it’s there. The new site allows for advertising ( inquire within!), but I promise you won’t see anything super annoying- I’m keeping the ads small and to the side and I’m going to focus on cool, independent online stores . Let’s just say, the ad revenues allow me to continue running the site and feed my cats ( I swear if they had thumbs, they’d take over the house and make me their bitch.) So work with me….

Designer Thom Browne unveiled a collection that would make an egg rejoice.  Really, though, I actually like it and appreciate the new silhouette. After seeing form-fitting hoochie -wear for a while now ( does the hooch ever go out of style? Probably not),  it’s refreshing to see that not everything is T & A. God, I sound like a friggin’ nun. Anywho, anything plaid is always cool in my book as is the fuzzy, mohair look. My favorite has to be the uptight Victorian with the cage skirt in the 6th photo. I always liked cage skirts! I think my least favorite is the third photo with the Sasquatch mid-section. It’s like a hairy arm muzzle for cold mental patients. Anywho, yay for Thom Browne for stepping a bit out of the boundaries which is always unusual during New York Fashion Week.

So here are some cool and weird stuff that I’ve been meaning to post about separately but decided to throw all the strange and unusual into one post. I know, it’s like one huge bizarre post but trust me it’s better this way- get the crazziness out of the way!

-Anywho, I think the most peculiar one is the Oven Lounge- whoever made that has a bounty on his head from Betty Crocker. Sh*t’s gonna get real when she shows up with an electric mixer, rubber gloves and a a tub of lard at his front door. I don’t even know where I’m going with that one so let’s get on the next one.

-Rubber Duckies are cool especially ones with tea leaves up their whoo-has. Ha ha.

-The Inner Beauty shirt is definitely a cannibal’s dream menu. Just add Chianti and fava beans. Yeah, so I necessarily wouldn’t wear that.

-Plug and Socket ring is a nice alternative to those cheezey broken heart necklaces. Except it seems the plug has the upper hand in most violent situations.I’ll take the plug.

-Check out the cool street art on Mercer St. in NYC – although it’s probably hidden under the snow and ice right now.

-Ride the skeleton bike… perfect for causing car accidents and freaking out small children and the elderly. The head and arms move when you make a turn.

This is some ah-maze-ing dresses by Amato Haute Couture . I have never heard of this designer until I saw this on Haute Macabre. Turns out they are out of Dubai and only do couture gowns, but really they need to move their ass to Paris and sign up (it’s like signing up for a badminton team, right?) to be part of Couture week there. I see some Gaultier and Givenchy in the dresses, but it’s still uniquely gorgeous. And nude is my new favorite color- It’s like only you’re lady parts are covered in jewels and the lace. I also like how the dangling baby makes for a sprinkle of madness. Anyway, I am totally going to keep Amato on my radar.

Who knew violins could take so much milage in fashion? Viktor & Rolf did it. Now ThreeAsFour…. I personally like violins and actually have a violin brooch I bought a while back from Etsy. There’s something somber and snobby about the violin… also it can turn quickly into a hillybilly  hoe down if need be. It’s so versatile! Honestly, these violins look out of place on the garment, as if the model is on their way to a gig or something and needed a free hand. That first outfit is perfect for those subway musicians… it’s like one hand plays, one hand collects money. That last dress looks totally like intestines. I rate this collection FUG.

Here is a special Spring 2011 collection by  Maison Martin Margiela called  ’Artisanal’. Each piece took hours of work and was handcrafted with Liberty prints, ribbons, flower garlands, colored plastic bags and leather to name a few. Usually I bust on Maison Martin Margiela, but today I feel generous. The artistic factor involved with this collection is like POW! I give it to anybody that can make couture from random stuff. My fave is the ribbon dress in the 6th photo. I do have to say the cellophane dress is a little ridiculous, but isn’t that what experimental fashion is about?  I may have changed my mind about Margiela!

Dayum! That is some caarrrrrrrazzzzy hair! Like it’s hair that doubles as shelter. It’s like your own little portable room. Photographed by Takahiro Ogawa for the Asian Beauty Expo and hair creations by Peter Gray & Masa Honda, these gems are sure to make anyone with Hirsute jump for joy. It’s like a Supermodel Sasquatch! I appreciate all this artistry though, because I have .081847% of the hair above and I still can’t get it right sometimes. Like this morning,I woke up with my ponytail on top of my head and bits of Mr. Marmar fur lodged within it. Damn cat keeps burrowing in my hair at night. But I have to say Mr. Marmar has the most luxurious fur in all of time! It’s like a cloud of cotton candy and the fanciest silk spun together to make this magical fur that is… Mr. Marmar. I can’t hate him for having luscious fur, therefore I can’t be mad that he wants to bond with my hair like that dragon thing in Avatar! Mr. Marmar tames Roxy ,  NOT  Roxy tames Mr.Marmar! And just like that Mr. Marmar gave me a ‘b*tch, recognized!’ look.

Marchesa is one of my favorite designers. They focus on evening gowns and tend to be my favorite dresses whenever I watch an award show. Beautiful, yet modern- I cannot say this collection is innovative especially since I see bits of Givenchy. I do love it and think they are gorgeous, it’s just that the sheer, heavily-embroidered gowns have already been done recently. In any case, I can’t hate on Marchesa- after all, they are the ONLY American designers that would fit in comfortably at the  Paris Haute Couture shows and I respect that.

If your doll’s shoes have gone missing in the past few months, look no further, the doll foot fetish lurking in  jewelry designer Tom Binns must have swiped them to make this immaculate piece of jewelry! Seriously, that’s a lot of barefoot Barbies. Good thing Barbie can’t get pregnant… or CAN she? Anywho, Moss Online offers this for sale but the price is available upon request. Usually, they say ‘price available upon request’ when they know that you’re gonna shoot them a ‘b*tch please ‘ side-eye  after finding out the price. I say just go to your neighborhood playground and start gathering lost doll shoes, then string it all together and throw it around your neck. Voila! And if it kid cries for her doll’s shoe, tell her that Cinderella story, but stop before the part where she gets the shoe back…. yeah, that’s the ticket.

One thing I love besides bows are POLKA DOTS! Usually I was a little ho-hum about Marc Jacobs, especially since last season’s ugly hippie dresses. But this season he emerged from the patchouli haze and has partially redeemed himself with these cute polka dot berets, 1940′s silhouettes and of course, POLKA DOTS!! So cool, because I already have lots of polka dots in my closet including those exact polka dot stockings I got from Victoria’s Secret a while back. I stocked up on those babies and now is the time to whip them out! My favorite look has got to be the second photo- I love the contrast of the collar, gloves and hat- so 1940′s. Yay for Marc !!
