I stumbled upon this store on Etsy that writes the jokes by itself. Let’s take a gander, shall we?

“Necklace made out of hazelnuts, felted wool, goat hair, guitar string, silver.”- $300 by Art by Winona

Translation:  Necklace made out of found objects at the bottom of a 1996 Ford Escort trunk after a skanky weekend at Burning Man.

This is a felted whoo-ha for sale. Because we all need a replica of our whoo-ha sitting on our dressing table to remind us what it looks like. The bead gives a nice touch of herpes simplex, possibly caught during that skanky weekend at Burning Man.

You can choose any stage of venereal disease ( I mean, color) that suits your taste. My personal favorite is the blue-ish purple whoo-ha. That must be a replica for those strangling their va-jayjays with g-strings day in and day out. Or it belongs to a Smurfette.

And the venereal disease theme echoes through the rest of Art by Winonas Etsy shop with this polyp-y, green pottery. I love when a collection comes together full circle!

Here are some stuff I found while cruising the vast void of the internet. Seriously, the more I dig, the more I can’t stop! I need an intervention and Mr. Marmar’s not gonna do it!
-So the first photo is a watermelon cooler/carrier from Japan. I can’t really say much more except that those Japanese never overlook a damn thing! If it were me, I’d ditch the watermelon and put my cat or kid in it on a really hot day. I think they’d appreciate that.
-A lightbulb idea came to Swedish designer Eric Therner (I’ll show my way out)… A lightbulb in the shape of a diamond! Who thought you need a huge chandelier to be all fancy-like when you can just do it with a single bulb? I love when everyday objects are fiddled with for the cooler.
Pinky Diablo ‘s skull spoons are probably just for looking at. But still damn cool! I can see my son persuading me to give him his medicine in that spoon- tricky little boy!
-These Lego Headphones were made by someone who’s crazy about Legos. If you have the time, you too can make them. Follow the link to the instructions, but you’re gonna have to swipe some of your kids’ legos. Good luck with that. I like that you can add blocks whenever and wherever you want. They need to make lego bows.
Voila! Hope that starts your week off right!

For me, Valentino always seemed to be clothes for a lady of a certain age, but this collection proved that wrong. Dainty and feminine, each dress was beautiful and elegant with a touch of avant guard- just the way I like it. My favorites have to be the birdcage dress and the fourth dress. Of course, bows make it all irresistible! I think that birdcage dress is perfect for people with the mysterious case of the ‘sticky fingers’. That has Winona Ryder written all over it, also any toddler.

recreating a Bjork look!

Princess Leia... yes, that's a bathrobe.

Padme wiglet

mini Bjork Buns

Single ballet-style bun

Dragonfly!

A little box of greatness was sitting at my doorstep again the other day. Yes, a box of hairstuff by the illustrious Tressa the Hairdressa!!! This time it was Princess Leia buns, Bjork buns, a Padme bun and a Dragonfly hairclip that were sent! I love these buns because it has a net underneath that allows you to just put your hair up and then place the buns over your own hair. It’s really fuss-free and you don’t have to have hair down to your butt to do it. Win-Win, dahhhling. Anyway, the Bjork buns are my favorite because I used to wear Bjork buns in high school. Except I had to use like a trillion bobby pins to keep it up. The upside was that I always had a bobby pin for any occasion, like picking a lock or something. Check out the Dragonfly hairclip made of hair! That’s pretty killer! And for all the Star Wars fanatics, the Princess Leia buns and Padme bun is puuuurrrrrfect for your next Comic-Con adventure or just any occasion involving geeks. Check out Puppycatmeow’s etsy shop for her new creations!

I was strolling around the new Santa Monica Place Mall that just re-opened a few weeks ago and came across these fine dames. At first I thought it was your usual botox/silicone/ vinyl/whatever -else- that -is- in- the- plastic -category  typical LA women. However, I was half mistaken ( they weren’t moving)- it was a series of mannequins done up by the Santa Monica Mannequin Collective! Overjoyed, I ran over and took photos with my iPhone (totally forgot to throw my regular camera in my pocketbook-so, sorry for the bad quality). Each of the 100 mannequins was re-imagined by local artists and designers. My favorite is the Pippi Longstocking mannequin by Lululemon Athletics. Obviously they had me in mind when they made that. (Well, a drag version of me if I were a man-who has broad shoulders like that? Okay, maybe not me.) Anyway, Ed Hardy did one by basically shatting on Marie Antoinette. She’s rolling in her grave, as we speak. Madame Antoinette is covered in tattoos and in a tawdry dress. Oh, the Humanity!! But it’s all for a good cause to benefit Otis College of Art and Design ( what about Hall?)

Now I’m gonna have Netflix Mannequin with pre-SATC Kim Catrall.

What do you get with a couple of bathtubs, yeast, a pinch of bacteria, and several cups of sweetened green tea? I guessed a terrible yeast infection at 4 o’clock teatime, but designer Suzanne Lee calls this piece of work BioCouture. It’s basically my worst nightmare- A JACKET MADE OF BACTERIA. I already get a little skeeved out at vintage stores (I mean, I wash the skank out of stuff when I buy used), but nothing comes close to this. It sort of looks like beef jerky or better yet, something out of Buffalo Bill’s basement closet. Read more about the process here, if you care. I’m gonna skip lunch today.

Jeremy Scott and  Linda Farrow have teamed up with these sunglasses in the shape of old TV’s. This is beyond geeky and I kinda like it. I wonder if you can get cable with that. Ha Ha. I’ll stop right there. In all seriousness, this is very Devo.  I’ve been liking Jeremy Scott’s stuff lately, especially this collection. Let’s hope he keeps it up … You can find these bad boys at  Opening Ceremony. Here’s some Devo to start your day off…
