—————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

So here are some cool and weird stuff that I’ve been meaning to post about separately but decided to throw all the strange and unusual into one post. I know, it’s like one huge bizarre post but trust me it’s better this way- get the crazziness out of the way!

-Anywho, I think the most peculiar one is the Oven Lounge- whoever made that has a bounty on his head from Betty Crocker. Sh*t’s gonna get real when she shows up with an electric mixer, rubber gloves and a a tub of lard at his front door. I don’t even know where I’m going with that one so let’s get on the next one.

-Rubber Duckies are cool especially ones with tea leaves up their whoo-has. Ha ha.

-The Inner Beauty shirt is definitely a cannibal’s dream menu. Just add Chianti and fava beans. Yeah, so I necessarily wouldn’t wear that.

-Plug and Socket ring is a nice alternative to those cheezey broken heart necklaces. Except it seems the plug has the upper hand in most violent situations.I’ll take the plug.

-Check out the cool street art on Mercer St. in NYC – although it’s probably hidden under the snow and ice right now.

-Ride the skeleton bike… perfect for causing car accidents and freaking out small children and the elderly. The head and arms move when you make a turn.

Voila!

This is some ah-maze-ing dresses by Amato Haute Couture . I have never heard of this designer until I saw this on Haute Macabre. Turns out they are out of Dubai and only do couture gowns, but really they need to move their ass to Paris and sign up (it’s like signing up for a badminton team, right?) to be part of Couture week there. I see some Gaultier and Givenchy in the dresses, but it’s still uniquely gorgeous. And nude is my new favorite color- It’s like only you’re lady parts are covered in jewels and the lace. I also like how the dangling baby makes for a sprinkle of madness. Anyway, I am totally going to keep Amato on my radar.

Check out this 2011 limited edition calendar,  SWANHÄLSINNEN BY TINA CASSATI. It’s total glamour , giraffe neck-style! Tina Cassati is a brilliant German photographer that I have written about in the past. So, if you’re still on the hunt for a killer calendar (besides the Persian Cats calendar, that I get every year), this maybe for you. Order one here for about 25 Euros. My favorite month has to be March with the purple honeycomb hat. So cool!!

French artist Elene Usdin uses beauty with a touch of creepy for most of her work. I really enjoy her art only because my mind goes into twisted territory from time to time. No need to worry ,though- I’m current on my meds. Those stuffed legs are what’s NOT right. It looks like a curious case of the mysterious cankles. Then, you realize it’s just a stuffed leg. Being a Lego fan, the Lego machine gun is pretty sweet. After seeing these, I totally want yarn hair. I’m gonna have to give my Yaki-braids a backseat, because yarn is where it’s at, obviously. Check out more of Elene’s work here. Don’t miss the ladies sandwiched between mattresses. That will boggle your mind!.

German illustrator Peggy Wolf has something in common with my five year old… Collaging! These compositions are pretty cool, though. It reminds me of all the collages I used to make in high school of fashion magazines and taped them to my bedroom walls. Damn, I had a lot of time to kill. Somehow, mine looked messy and most nights I would freak out for a few seconds when Kristen McMenamy would stare me down with her nose ring and helmet hair…Anyway, Peggy Wolf ( I love that name , it’s like a storybook name!) is definitely  on my list of cool artists. Check out her more of her stuff here.

Brooklyn photography duo Kat + Duck have some visually striking work that are both dramatic and chic. I love the huge half circle on the model’s head in the last photo. She just needs a carrot hanging from the tip and be a bunny. Or in my case, hang some delicious fried chicken at the end. I’d run all damn day! Be sure to check out their site, especially the ‘Rorschach Test’ photo shoot with a model serving as the ‘ink blots’… pretty damn cool if you ask me. I also dig the Russian-style splash page.- Kra-si-va-ya*!

*That means “beautiful” or something in Russian. Seriously, I learned that from a mail order bride.

Latvian fashion stylist/designer/illustrator Baiba LaDiga latest series include a creepy bunny (that looks kinda robotic and animatronic- actually Chuck E. Sleaze would totally adopt that one) running around the ‘hood looking for someone to harass for carrots. I really love the jacket with the poufy sleeves- so Victorian! That Chinese sign is totally throwing me off, though.  Here are another set of photographs by Baiba LaDiga ….

These are ‘The Birds’ series with dresses designed by LaDiga. Those are plastic strips on the dress so naturally a pleasant snap and crackle are heard as you walk. Pretty cool, huh?
