This season’s Viktor & Rolf show was spectacular, as usual. Taking inspiration from menswear, particularly men’s dress shirts, each piece maintained a feminine quality, while displaying masterful techniques with the common dress shirt. Maison Martin Margiela should seriously pay attention to Viktor &Rolf and see how it’s done. That last dress totally belongs in a museum!  That’s a lot of cufflinks to shop for! I would take one of each and wear that to a boardroom! Brill-i-ant!

Here is Part 2 of my favorites from UK’s Graduate Fashion Week 2010. The first photo reminds me Victor & Rolf, which I adore. The third and fourth photos look like straight up aliens. And the last four photos are wonderfully fun and childish, which I find appealing AND there are lots of Bows- yay! Love the robot tights and Pinocchio skirt, although her sweater looks like a fungus of some sort. I’d wear it.

I love love love Viktor & Rolf ! Check out this multi -layered coat that must weigh more than a fat 6th grader. It reminds me of those nesting Russian dolls that I love dearly. The use of stiff tulle still echoes through this season. Check out the gown in the second photo- you could totally hip-check the crap out someone with minimal effort. I like that. Victor and Rolf seem like the kind of dudes that want you to touch their monkey. I mean every episode of  ‘Sprockets’ is probably on their iPod touch. With that being said, Victor & Rolf can do wrong in my book!

Here are a few looks from the Central Saint Martin’s fashion show featuring designs from this year’s graduates. I see visions of Viktor & Rolf, Klaus Nomi, Avatar, marshmallows, and the (Tr)Olsen Twins in this collective. Now we know what goes on in their dorm rooms. Something involving those listed. Anyway, I actually think I like the puffy, cloud outfit… I would wear that on a plane so I can rest my head on the puffs of awesomeness during the flight. And one can never have too many arm warmers (first photo)- love those! The white boxy cape (third photo) is perfect for cleptos. You could totally jack a microwave with that coat on.

I really liked this collection because it was really feminine, edgy and modern all at the same time. The purple dress in the second photo is just gorgeous! Reminds me of a more toned down Viktor & Rolf dress. The Mongolian lamb fur in the first photo looks so fluffy and soft…sort of like my cat. Anything that reminds me of my cats in a big plus in my book. I really don’t know what’s up with the lampshade, though. I guess it goes with the edgy territory. Givenchy really impressed me this season.

Viktor & Rolf ‘s Spring 2010 collection  had a cheeky take on the current state of the economy- cut backs on the ball gown. I thought it was remarkably done and once again proves the Dutch duo are  geniuses stuck in clones of Dieter’s body. I love the use of tulle in anything! It reminds me of a ballerina, princess, or fairy. Yes, my taste still reflects a 4 year old girl’s fashion sense. I still shop at Gymboree. For myself. Anyway, the show must have spectacular with Róisín Murphy (the women Lady Gaga supposedly steals her looks from) performing during the show. Looking at these photos, try to picture the bolts and bolts of tulle used to create ONE dress- amazing!

1764-2

Eva Nyíri, graduate of Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Hungary, designed these masterpieces evoking inspirations from Genghis Khan, Victor and Rolf , Gareth Pugh, and the Transformers. Imagine the conversation at that dinner table. Lots of grunts and stares. Anyway, I really like this collection because it is interchangeable and the silhouettes are to die for. Whoever wearing this on the street would have everyone crossing the street to the other side to avoid them because it looks so ominous! I especially love the neck brace. I mean, who needs to have peripheral vision? Who? Thought so
