One thing I love besides bows are POLKA DOTS! Usually I was a little ho-hum about Marc Jacobs, especially since last season’s ugly hippie dresses. But this season he emerged from the patchouli haze and has partially redeemed himself with these cute polka dot berets, 1940’s silhouettes and of course, POLKA DOTS!! So cool, because I already have lots of polka dots in my closet including those exact polka dot stockings I got from Victoria’s Secret a while back. I stocked up on those babies and now is the time to whip them out! My favorite look has got to be the second photo- I love the contrast of the collar, gloves and hat- so 1940’s. Yay for Marc !!

Valentine’s Day is here and I thought I’d share some cool Valentine’s picks I found on Etsy. I love those old-timey Valentine’s cards with the cute woodland creatures and such wishing so and so a Happy Valentine’s Day. Do you think creatures know what Valentine’s is? In my world, they do. The miniature house that looks like a pink unicorn barfed glitter upon it is especially cute. I would get that to house my be@rbricks. You can never do wrong with Marie Antoinette gift tags/cards! The cupcakes are also from Esty- I had no idea you could sell food on Etsy. Maybe I should start selling breastmilk on Etsy. Or cheese made from breastmilk. That’s really artisan and local if you ask me. And lastly, heart-shaped crayons for your little one! (or big one!) They also do other shapes of crayons worth looking into.

Have a Happy Valentine’s Day filled with chocolates, flowers, cuddly bears, cats, more chocolates, champagne, sex, chocolate, and a terrible romantic comedy.

LunaBlocks has taken a childhood delight and made it into an interior decorator’s nightmare! Seriously, every interior decorator I meet wants to transform every place into a Z Gallerie showroom. Ugh. The best part of these blocks is that you can make your own combinations to make the furniture of your childhood dreams! Each brick is about $20, so it’s not that cheap, but still well worth it if you have a passion for Legos. I like the tables the best and I would make all the bricks pink and black for a Barbie boudoir effect!

Freeland Studios on Etsy make these fabulous old style phones compatible to an iPhone called the iRetrofone. Retailing at about $200, these relics of the past turned modern would make any retro-phile a happy lady or gent. I can imagine Don Draper cursing out people on the line while scrolling for porn on the iPhone simultaneously. Seriously, this is actually a great phone since the whole cancer thing is revisited. Eating popcorn also makes me think of this video. So, as soon as I scrounge up some money, I think I will order a pink iRetrofone just so I can feel like a 1950’s sexatary whilst saving brain cells! Of course, Mr. Marmar would be in my lap as I plan to take over the world! Muahahahahah!

Los Angeles -based Beat Up Creations just knows what the public wants- vintage china plates with Gizmo right in the center! This makes tea time such a treat with a bear-faced Marie Antoinette staring back at you through a scatter of scone crumbs! *Swoon*! My favorite has to be the Elizabethan ET or the cat in uniform. Hell! They’re ALL my favorite. Beat Up Creations also does zombie portraits, so make sure to check out their Etsy store. There were seriously too many to post, but they ALL are just lovely and kitschy! Aaaaaand , they are all upcycled. Brilliant work!

Australian designer Di$count are probably the punkiest punks that ever punked! Studded leather jackets- check! Jewelry that can pry out an eye- check! Hair that would make a clown weep- check! I love every bit of their work, especially their tongue-in-cheek take on high fashion-Note the faux Chanel lining in that snakeskin motorcycle jacket. Every piece of work of handmade and unique. So, the thousands of studs were, in fact, laid in the jacket my hand. Their poor fingertips are crying, as we speak. Suffering for fashion is so PUNK! Fuck, Yeah!!! Check out their site for more cool stuff!

*Mental Note*- wear fingertip rings next time I walk around sketchy downtown LA.

Heavens!! The Hello Kitty Carnival came to town (Santa Monica, CA) and naturally, I dropped everything and went. Seriously, I was turning Japanese by taking photos of every single detail. Here are a sliver of all the photos I took. It was like Sanrio exploded and each glitter turned into a damn carnival game. It was like the smoke became artwork with it’s own booth. It’s was like Twin Little Stars fluttered from the heavens and said, “Make mine a 99”. It was like…  I’ll stop there. But you get what I mean.

Anyway, there was a mini-golf, ferris wheel, carnival booths, artwork from famous artists, like Joe Ledbetter, a Hello Kitty pop-up shop (with a 2 hour wait to get in) and loads of food trucks, and yummy desserts. Pretty much what I expect in heaven when I kick the bucket. I hope God is taking notes.

Anywho, I wore a vintage mohair cape from Scotland, powder blue Hunter boots, Vivienne Westwood handbag, Benetton argyle knit skirt, and house ring by We Wear. My hair was an unfortunate experiment with my hot curlers- never again.
