Check out this 2011 limited edition calendar,  SWANHÄLSINNEN BY TINA CASSATI. It’s total glamour , giraffe neck-style! Tina Cassati is a brilliant German photographer that I have written about in the past. So, if you’re still on the hunt for a killer calendar (besides the Persian Cats calendar, that I get every year), this maybe for you. Order one here for about 25 Euros. My favorite month has to be March with the purple honeycomb hat. So cool!!

Dayum! That’s a crap load of dog tags. Artist Do-Ho Suh made this work of serious art at The Rhode island School of Design (holla!)in 2001 for an assignment regarding his identity as a Korean on the US. So clever and poignant, hundreds of military dogs tags make up a kimono large enough for Andre Leon Talley. You know he would wear it and give the stank eye to anyone who stepped on it even though it’s like half a football field big.

Anyway, you can see this at the Seattle Art Museum on permanent display, so after your ass gets a Frappuccino, haul ass to this museum ’cause this is where it’s at.

Special thanks to my fancy brother for these fancy photos taken with his fancy camera!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Ring in the New Year for me with a cupcake, cat in the lap, and Dick Clark’s New Year’s Special because I’ll already be in BED. After a certain age,  you just don’t give an eff. Stay safe and let’s hope our champagne is a little better than the usual Cold Duck brand!

Where, oh, where did Yang Du come from?! We must share the same brain! These cartoon dresses are beyond awesome and yes, I would wear them all day, even to a funeral. My favorite have to be the cartoon eyes in the first photo and of course, the Batman dress. Fluffy, knit lion fingers have to be the funnest ever! Flipping the bird would take on a softer message. By the way, the eye makeup on the models is pretty rad, too. So, Yang Du is pretty hard to find and I seriously would like one of those dresses. Checkout his earlier collections below. Pretty fupe, huh? I’d totally sit next to that old lady on the bench and chat about cats.

British artist James Joyce’s art is so colorful and playful on the surface but if you look at each piece, you will find a more serious note. Case in point, the red finger on a trigger,  the collapsed clown, or the pretty lady with no face. I really love his work and appreciate that he isn’t afraid of using bold colors. The photo above is an art gallery with his works on display. Joyce’s work can be found everywhere from the cover of  Wallpaper magazine to Swiss Army knives. Check out his site for all his work.

As you may know, I have a huge fan of fashion photography, especially the art of David Lachapelle. However, I have stumbled upon (via myspace… shut it! I know you still have a profile there)  German photographer/artist Tina Cassati. I seriously couldn’t understand her website because it was in German. ( I only know ‘Shizer’, shizerkapt, KaufHauf, and  ‘Das iz mein Stool’ courtesy of a summer spent in Nuremberg during my youth.) So I have no idea where she was published, what campaigns she’s done, or where she went to school- the only thing I know is that she’s German and she has the coolest photos! Check out her myspace and see more photos, especially the ones with the Matthew Barney looking dude. Good Stuff!
