Designer Thom Browne unveiled a collection that would make an egg rejoice.  Really, though, I actually like it and appreciate the new silhouette. After seeing form-fitting hoochie -wear for a while now ( does the hooch ever go out of style? Probably not),  it’s refreshing to see that not everything is T & A. God, I sound like a friggin’ nun. Anywho, anything plaid is always cool in my book as is the fuzzy, mohair look. My favorite has to be the uptight Victorian with the cage skirt in the 6th photo. I always liked cage skirts! I think my least favorite is the third photo with the Sasquatch mid-section. It’s like a hairy arm muzzle for cold mental patients. Anywho, yay for Thom Browne for stepping a bit out of the boundaries which is always unusual during New York Fashion Week.

Who knew violins could take so much milage in fashion? Viktor & Rolf did it. Now ThreeAsFour…. I personally like violins and actually have a violin brooch I bought a while back from Etsy. There’s something somber and snobby about the violin… also it can turn quickly into a hillybilly  hoe down if need be. It’s so versatile! Honestly, these violins look out of place on the garment, as if the model is on their way to a gig or something and needed a free hand. That first outfit is perfect for those subway musicians… it’s like one hand plays, one hand collects money. That last dress looks totally like intestines. I rate this collection FUG.

Here is a special Spring 2011 collection by  Maison Martin Margiela called  ‘Artisanal’. Each piece took hours of work and was handcrafted with Liberty prints, ribbons, flower garlands, colored plastic bags and leather to name a few. Usually I bust on Maison Martin Margiela, but today I feel generous. The artistic factor involved with this collection is like POW! I give it to anybody that can make couture from random stuff. My fave is the ribbon dress in the 6th photo. I do have to say the cellophane dress is a little ridiculous, but isn’t that what experimental fashion is about?  I may have changed my mind about Margiela!

British designer James Hock‘s latest collection is consists of only the colors red and black and a strong harlequin theme. Basically, it’s like the circus in an Asian restaurant. Lucky for James, I like the circus and I like Asian restaurants. The only thing I’m unsure of is the half shorts/half pants look. About 95% of the times that I wear pants, it means that I was too lazy to shave my legs. So those pants would just confuse me- to shave or not to shave?

Check out James’ older collection that belongs on Queen Latifah back in her U.N.I.T.Y days. I really like the boxy look, especially the ‘b*tch, get off my sidewalk’ shoulders. The last photo is something I’d wear to a cat show. Mr. Marmar could jump on my shoulder and use my hat as a scratching post. I love it all!

Check out this human body ball gown with heavy embroidery and bead detailing! It is pretty awesome. I would totally wear that to a drug company soiree.  If you want to see more of this Chinese designer check out the links below- pretty rad stuff! There’s one photo with a dress/skull cap and another with a short skirted dress- all equally fantastic!

*Sorry I couldn’t repost the other photos, but it wouldn’t let me grab the photo and I’m too lazy to figure it out. But alas, thedoppleganger from Polyvore has it all figured out:

From Polyvore – thedoppleganger:

“This is the original source of the photo:http://www.flickr.com/photos/miyake77/4559647489/ There are more photos from the show on that photostream, and here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/charles_studio/4449645410/From what I know, it’s from March 20th during China Fashion Week, so it’s Fall 2010. It was held at Shih Chien University (http://fashion.usc.edu.tw/c/work/fweek.asp) and the title of the show is “Artificial Beauty”. The designer’s name is listed in Chinese and I’ve translated it to search for them on Google, but no luck for anything in English. Chinese: 陳俐瑾 / 林志純 / 楊淳如 English: Chen Lijin / Lin pure / Yang Chun as. It’s a little confusing because of the language, but it’s all I could find.”

Wish I could post more photos, but definitely check out the links!

First things first- Did John Galliano change is name to Monchichi Galliano because he looks straight up Monchichi. That hair! Kidding, how can I mock the genius known as John Galliano! He’s  done it again! Brilliant designs for Christian Dior’s Spring Couture  line with fabrics dyed to look like watercolors and cuts that are distinctly Dior. You can never fail with the classic 1950’s silhouette in my book. My favorite has to be the lemon-colored gown. Reminds me of that iconic Dior photo. I also love the dress in the 8th photo. So fluffy, so soft, so….  Mr. Marmar! Anywho, I think Dior takes the Haute Couture crown this season.

Givenchy really is on a winning streak lately. The Spring 2011 Couture collection was only 10 looks long, but each one was a smash hit! With embroidery and detail work that took as long as 4,000 hours, Givenchy is setting a new standard of couture. I guess this is when creative meets OCD, which I totally  love ! I’m especially loving the mongo Viking hat that can fit several midgets in. Givenchy’s inspiration supposedly was Japanese Anime, which I kinda see and don’t see. I think after a few episodes of  Yu-Gi-Goh! ,everything starts looking manga-ish. I also like the smidge of neon/pastel color in the back. It’s like elegant  in the front and a rave in the back. I give this collection my stamp of approval courtesy of Miss Darcheen and her luscious lip licking.

That’s a damn honor right there!
