This is some ah-maze-ing dresses by Amato Haute Couture . I have never heard of this designer until I saw this on Haute Macabre. Turns out they are out of Dubai and only do couture gowns, but really they need to move their ass to Paris and sign up (it’s like signing up for a badminton team, right?) to be part of Couture week there. I see some Gaultier and Givenchy in the dresses, but it’s still uniquely gorgeous. And nude is my new favorite color- It’s like only you’re lady parts are covered in jewels and the lace. I also like how the dangling baby makes for a sprinkle of madness. Anyway, I am totally going to keep Amato on my radar.

The original French punk did it again! I have to say this collection was by far one of the best Gaultier collections I have seen in a long time. The fact that it’s Haute Couture makes it even more impressive because although some of his designs can be costume-y, these are actually wearable, yet unique. My fave is definitely the last photo with the can-can skirt. BRILLIANT! If I wore that I’d make an excuse to lift my skirt as much as possible. The fifth photo of the black and white striped organza dress is just perfect. Why can’t movie stars were this stuff on the red carpet instead of the ho-hum, safe, FUG  dress?? All these incredible dresses and they end up with the one uninspiring dress that every JCPenney can knockoff. Really. Anyway, Gaultier has absolutely regained his special place in my heart!

Our favorite cheeky designer whipped out his 3D glasses for his collection. No one told him you don’t need 3D glasses with Beth Ditto! Kidding! She looks wonderful. Love her flapper-style hair, actually. I liked Gaultier’s latest collection, but I didn’t love love it. I was torn between the Joan Jett mullet and the David Bowie suit. It’s like, so cool from the neck down and Central Floridian trailer trash from the neck up.  I think my favorite out of the bunch was the peach corset in the fourth photo. Corsets are what Gaultier does best, in my opinion… wish there was more of that in this collection. Besides that, those pointy shoulders are pretty cool, too.

Goodness Gracious! These gowns are to die for … Seriously, Marchesa needs to pack up and move to Paris because that is where they belong- amongst the incredible haute couture houses of our time. Let’s start with the stunning shoulder/neck jewelry on some of the dresses. I love love love the glitz and glamour it lends that only the 1930s did so well ( I also love jewelry built into a dress). Each gown’s hue is so delicate and reminiscent of an elegant ballerina ( we also saw that at Dennis Bosso– definitely the movie  Black Swan is in the air). I’m especially digging the nude and lace gown- some of these gowns remind me of Dior and John Galliano’s couture line over the past couple seasons and also Jean Paul Gaultier’s couture lines from several seasons ago. Identical silhouettes and soft, feminine fabrics- but always flattering on any woman.Anyone who brings on the glamour is A-ok in my book! Yay, Marchesa!!

Those gowns are beyond gorgeous. If I had that gown, I would wear it everyday. Like food shopping, to the post office, the dentist, you name it! It resembles bones and is bone color, which I find awesome. Givenchy only had 12 looks in this collection, but they are all beautiful. I’m totally for quality , not quantity.

Bones also resonated in the Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 2010 Haute Couture show- Check out Dita von Teese with a corset by Mr. Pearl with accurate bone detailing… so chilling, it’s cool! I’ll take two, JPG!

Karishma Shahani’s Fall 2010 collection is wonderfully colorful and with beautiful tribal accents of layering. This is something I would wear! It sort of reminds me of a cross between Jean Paul Gaultier, Fam Irvoll and George Clinton (?). Anyway, it is always lovely to see someone use color like this! I think my favorite is the multi-colored fur boots- it’s like a Montana mountain hooker’s boots on acid. By the way, that model is trying so hard to not think of her monobrow. I don’t blame her.

Elle Decor gave Jean Paul Gaultier a few rooms to go ape sh*t  in and look what he gave us! Absolutely fantastic! I like how JPG is sitting there like Where’s Waldo? I still see you, JP. The best part of this exhibit was the doll bedspread. It sort of looks like Marie Osmond is rising from the satin bed, all satan like. I loves it! But that’s only because I collect dolls- a normal person would be creeped out , I suppose. Speaking of Jean Paul Gaultier dolls- I have a the Spring 2000 Limited Edition Jean Paul Gaultier Porcelain Doll that is sitting in a corner collecting dust. I may turn into a bedspread!
