PornStache mug cozy by  Knot workshop

Lego Keyboard by Beta Time

Knit beard hat by Poor Girl Couture

Knit heart and ovaries by An Optimistic Cynic

Sometimes I like to scroll through Etsy for stuff that are effed up someway. Take for instance the knit ovaries. Really? And then I like to see things that I contemplate ordering like the knit beard hat. It’s like super cozy and excellent for bank robbing! Seriously, though, I see a trend in the knit department- it’s like knitting is the new medium for all things kitsch. I guess anybody can knit and and you can take the project with you like on the subway sitting next to a man who is  sitting in a box.  I threw in a little lego keyboard that I thought was awesome!

Enjoy!

PS- I would have my tea or coffee without cream when that cozy is on the mug! Just sayin’!

Where, oh, where did Yang Du come from?! We must share the same brain! These cartoon dresses are beyond awesome and yes, I would wear them all day, even to a funeral. My favorite have to be the cartoon eyes in the first photo and of course, the Batman dress. Fluffy, knit lion fingers have to be the funnest ever! Flipping the bird would take on a softer message. By the way, the eye makeup on the models is pretty rad, too. So, Yang Du is pretty hard to find and I seriously would like one of those dresses. Checkout his earlier collections below. Pretty fupe, huh? I’d totally sit next to that old lady on the bench and chat about cats.

Call your resident gimp because I just found the beautifullest winter ensemble- a head to toe knit mohawk suit! It’s by Sibling London and they also have the coolest knit sweaters that any serious punk rocker would swoon for. No seriously, I love these cool knitwear, especially the one with “PUNK” written like that Robert Indiana statue. This must be a Johnny Rotten sponsored show. Even though these are for men, I would totally wear it all “burning down the house” style…. except the girlfriend from hell sweater.. that would be completely inaccurate.

Japanese designer  Yuliya Wim Merlin creates whimsical knit creations that would make a cold, gloomy day smile. Being a fan of unique knitwear, Yuliya’s designs stood out from the rest of the ho-hum knitwear you see in some stores. I think the sushi sweater is brilliant, especially the 3D aspect of it. I would totally wear the piano dress to a fancy ballet recital or  something. The cherry dress looks very rockabilly and Betsey Johnson- ish.  Check out her Etsy shop. Can’t wait forSweataWheatha“!

Designer Phuong Thuy Nguyen must use the crap out of his Singer knitting machine! I have done alot of posts on knitwear lately, but I think this one is my favorite. It’s like the really heavy acrylic (?) yarn that only a midwestern granny can master. I really do love the shapes and silhouettes Phuong has created. It’s like so futuristic, but so 70’s simultaneously. Speaking of knit and the 70’s, my mom had made this hideous macrame owl that used to sit on our doorstep with a pot of fern placed strategically in it’s mouth. It was brown and smelled like a basement. It kinda looked like this, but huge, like 6 feet tall. Don’t get me wrong, my mom had mad skillz for making sh*t like that, but Dang! it was downright FUG. Apparently, she sold it for a pretty penny to a midwestern lady. See, it all comes back to the midwest- only they can appreciate knit-anything! Check out Phuong’s ( that name makes me crave some delicious Pho) Site for more cool stuff!

Central Saint Martins graduate Onez Lau’s  2010 collection was a homage to cute woodland creatures like unicorn, birds and deers. I have to say the unicorn is pretty clever and the most cute out of all three. However, the other two, the bird and the deer, are just caaaarrrrrraaazy. I mean, if my neighborhood hobo with dreadlocks wore this, I would think , “Poor thing, he must be really cold piling on every sweater, feather and fur remnant there ever was on him. He must’ve gone through a West Hollywood dumpster a day after the Pride Parade or Bill Cosby’s sweater emporium.”  Having said that, I’ll take the My Little Pony Parker, please!

MA Antwerp graduate Nathalie Fordeyn designed a fascinating collection called, “A Drummer In A Tree”. More like “A Q-tip in an Ear”. (I’ll show my way out…) Anyway, I find this collection refreshing because who knew grandma’s sweaters would look so cool wrapped around your head like a fishbowl? Personally, I’m a fan of knit-wear even though California weather never lets me unleash my knit collection, like ever. I can totally appreciate the time and energy to make these bulbous pieces. I’m digging the dome skirts, but fear that they may make my legs look thick. That’s the problem with knitwear, you have to be super skinny to wear it or you’ll just look like a cat lady from Minnesota that cites peanut butter as their favorite ‘food’. Having said that, I’d totally wear the second to the last photo in a blizzard.
