Designer Sorcha O’Raghallaigh just recently graduated from Central Saint Martins BA and already has a kick-ass portfolio. Check out her knit-wear designs above. Some of her models wear stilts to get a real dramatic look. Maybe I should get some stilts. Sorcha doesn’t have an official website, yet, but look out for her- she’s definitely one to watch!

Spanish designer Manuel Bolano gave us bears and geniously constructed silhouettes in his latest collection. I love love love the bears, but they are teetering on looking like a tumor. It’s not a tumor!

Anyway, the shoulders are fantastic in the second and fourth photos- they are definitely something I would wear! The bowl cut’s are a little FUG, though. It looks like the infamous Peter Pan dude here. Anyway, I think Manuel is one to watch, but I’m not sure why his website is a Myspace and Facebook page. Dude needs to get a sponsor STAT so he can get a decent website up and running. He totally deserves it.

Designer Sandra Backlund and photographer  Denise Grünstein collaborated with a series of photos that could make a grown man’s sperm run and cry. These photos have exhibited at Galleri Charlotte Lund in Stockholm, but thanks to the power of the computer gods ( and me) you only have to go as far as your couch to see these masterpieces. I wonder what they bribed the kids with for this shoot. Candy would be classic. Anyway, I did a post on Sandra Backlund’s designs in the past. You can find it here. Below is her newest collection, which I am liking a lot.

Dutch designer, Valerie Ferus designs ‘walks the line between fashion and sculpture’, according to her website. Honestly, I would wear them all except for the first photo Chinese New Year kite gown. Unless you want to march in the Chinese New Year parade, that is.  Even though it looks stiff, I think my favorite is the kitted-sheep jacket that has a cozy hood to make you feel even more sheepish. Then again I would wear anything with a hood because hoods make me feel cozy and warm. I would even wear this. I wonder if I can fool sheep with this jacket. They’d probably label me as the Black Sheep. You know the effed up one. Anyway, The black dress is a borderline mess, though. I think if it was more even, it could look fantastic. But I do appreciate that it is sort of wearable, ie. you can sit down in it, etc.

Irina Shaposhnikova, who graduates from Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts next month, designed these wonderful knit creations. I love the sheer in the sweaters. It makes it look fashion forward and not dowdy. I love knitwear , but they tend to make me look fat, so I tend to stay away from them. However, I think these would look great on me. The hood is a great effect since you can also shoplift without giving away your identity. I like that. But you can’t really smuggle stuff under your sweater since it’s sheer. That’s a catch -22. I’d still wear it though. My cats would go to town on these sweaters, by the way.

Knitwear has always had a homemade, granny feel to it, no matter if it were Chanel or Meme’s. Backlund manages to make knitwear look chic, fresh and avant-guarde. Look for Backlund’s collaboration with Louis Vuitton coming soon.
