me with an Eva Varro tunic

A cool dress by Nina Skarra

Kate Flannery with the President of Kusmi Tea

I attended the fantastic Emmy’s 2010 DPA Gifting Suite organized  by the talented Nathalie DuBois-Sissoko. It was a lovely summer day in Los Angeles and the gifting suite was outside on the patio of the Argyle Salon & Spa on Sunset Boulevard. Stars attending the Emmy Awards were pampered and gifted with the newest in luxury, fashion, beauty and food.

I started with a wonderful shoulder massage from The Massage Express , a traveling masseuse for any occasion and event. Then I had a bit of wonderful tea at Kusmi Tea, a company out of Paris that originated in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1867. Kusmi Tea comes in a variety of  high-quality flavors packed as teabags or loose teas. I really love the beautiful tin packaging, too. Yummy crepes were provided by Crepes Sans Frontieres, a mobile crepe maker available for any event. I overdosed on Nutella crepes  because they were so so good.

After I wiped the chocolate off my mouth, I made my way around the suite and checked out beautiful, vintage-inspire jewelry by RGK D’Zines,  a clean, sweet-scented perfume by Jus D’Amour Parfums, handbags by Paola Gragliatrendy and chic yoga-wear by Delano Wear,  beautiful bracelets by SwedArt embellished with pearls and buttons made from reindeer antlers. SwedArt gave me one in a what else, but … Pink!

My favorite panda, Lil Panda, was also at DPA’s gifting suite. I did a post a few weeks ago on the adorable panda known as Lil Panda. Stylish and hip dresses in slinky fabrics and colorful designs by  Eva Varro were gifted to the stars. I chose a Monet-like tunic that I can see myself wearing on a beach or during a day of shopping. Gorgeous couture gowns were offered to the Emmy nominees by Nina Skarra. Each gown had incredible detailing regarding the cut and style of the dress.

Chiaya showed their new line of versatile wraps that can go from the beach to a night out.  ChewyLou provided fun yoga-wear with inspiring words, like ‘hope’ and ‘give’.  Designer sunglasses were gifted by Marchon. A new character called Jizo and Chibi was unveiled at the suite featuring jewelry, hats, and even a children’s book called “Why A Fly?”. Timree Art showed their whimsical art on ceramic plates, bowls and canvas- all customized to you and your taste. They will even paint your soiree down to the detail of each guest so you can remember it forever and ever!

Luxury beauty line Natura Bisse gave away beauty products. The Argyle Salon & Spa offered their Brazilian Blowout favored by celebrities to all the nominees of the Emmy’s. It is a revolutionary  lasting hair treatment that smooths your hair and makes it full and healthy. A entire line of Brazilian Blowout products were gifted. A fragrant and unusual candle was offered by  Milena’s Boutique. It is an all-natural soy candle in different scents (my favorite is White Jasmine) that when melted can also be used as a moisturizer. It smells so amazing!

Several lucky stars received the DPA staple, a luxurious vacation at Bora Bora Pearl Beach Resort & Spa. I wound down with a refreshing Steaz drink, a variety of flavors made with natural ingredients and green tea, and a scrumptious Millie’s Cheesecakes, hand-crafted, gourmet cheesecake bites in several wonderful flavors, like lemon. Luckily, they deliver nationwide for cheesecake fans. Speaking of delivery, Wholesome2go delivers healthy, organic foods in the Los Angeles area right to your door.

Also, included in the gift bags were Coca-Cola products, SmartWater, a DVD of Food Matters, and others.

It was a wonderful day at DPA’s gifting suite. Award season has officially begun! Until next time…

xoxo,

roxy

I was strolling around the new Santa Monica Place Mall that just re-opened a few weeks ago and came across these fine dames. At first I thought it was your usual botox/silicone/ vinyl/whatever -else- that -is- in- the- plastic -category  typical LA women. However, I was half mistaken ( they weren’t moving)- it was a series of mannequins done up by the Santa Monica Mannequin Collective! Overjoyed, I ran over and took photos with my iPhone (totally forgot to throw my regular camera in my pocketbook-so, sorry for the bad quality). Each of the 100 mannequins was re-imagined by local artists and designers. My favorite is the Pippi Longstocking mannequin by Lululemon Athletics. Obviously they had me in mind when they made that. (Well, a drag version of me if I were a man-who has broad shoulders like that? Okay, maybe not me.) Anyway, Ed Hardy did one by basically shatting on Marie Antoinette. She’s rolling in her grave, as we speak. Madame Antoinette is covered in tattoos and in a tawdry dress. Oh, the Humanity!! But it’s all for a good cause to benefit Otis College of Art and Design ( what about Hall?)

Now I’m gonna have Netflix Mannequin with pre-SATC Kim Catrall.

The illustrious Hasty and Jacques Torres

Hasty Torres and me

Nestled in the heart of Beverly Hills lies a magical boutique selling everything chocolate! Madame Chocolat is an enchanted chocolate boutique owned and run by Hasty Torres, wife of chocolate wizard Jacques Torres. Each of Hasty’s chocolate creations are delectable and beautiful than the other. Coming in all shapes, sizes and flavors, chocolates are produced in small batches for every occasion and holiday. For Bastille Day, chocolate Eiffel Tower ranging from small to large were produced in honor of the French celebration. Solid or hollow chocolate high heels, handbags, sunglasses, watches, cigars, and almost everything in between are available for any sweet tooth. Not only are the shapes impressive, but the flavors are unique in its own. Over 21 variations of white, dark and milk chocolate, including a Grand Marnier-infused ganache, fresh raspberry ganache, champagne ganache (known as the ‘Champagne Kiss” *swoon*) exist in this lovely chocolate heaven. The extreme attention to detail of the packaging, the product itself, and the gorgeous French 16th century decor give even Fauchon and Lenotre a run for its money. Even the massive chandelier has the Madame Chocolat logo hanging throughout the chandelier. That’s damn exquisite, if you ask me.

Hasty was gracious to let us into her factory and showed us the process of making haute chocolate. The chocolate is constantly churning to keep from hardening and is ready for impromptu drizzles or a full-fledged production of bon-bons and truffles. Each chocolate takes at least two days to make! After sampling a bunch of chocolates, I left the store with a smile on my face, a sense of luxury( I was channeling Mr. Marmar) and a major sugar high. ( Not sure if that’s the best combo for driving-hahaha). Be sure to try some of your favorite childhood candies and cookies dipped in chocolate, like Cheerios, Oreos, Rice Krispies and of course, marshmallow s’mores. Madame Chocolat not only serves chocolates, but also ice cream, tea, coffee, iced drinks, croissants and cookies.  Custom orders are available and nationwide shipping is available. Be sure to say, Haaaaaaaay‘ to the lovely Hasty for me- she’s a doll!
