One thing I suck at is origami. Seriously, even my paper airplanes can’t fly! My origami boats are all lopsided and sad. Fortunately, I leave that to the professionals (my 5 year old) and just step away from the paper. I remember I had this friend who would make  a cloth dinner  napkin into a penis. I’d get up from the table for five minutes and I’d come back with a penis napkin on my plate. What’s wrong with a damn swan?! Anyway, Origami Jewelry has memorialized the art of origami into cute  silver and gold necklaces. My favorite is the bunny, of course. I hope I didn’t given them any ideas for an origami penis necklace. Actually, that maybe a hot seller. Your welcome, Origami Jewelry!

2010 AMFI graduate Elise Kim must have been watching this creepy video while designing her  “Blind robots wearing an Ikea lamp shade” collection. Although these pictures make me want to run and hide under the bed, much like that History channel show Ancient Aliens, I still appreciate the intricate design of the tops. Let’s face it, that is some mad origami skillz. So, I wish Elise all the best- she’s a recent graduate so let’s send her off into the real world with an explosive “Dayum! You’ve got skillz!’ confetti.

Los Angeles- based artist Jeff Nishinaka must have paper cuts all over his hands like all the time! He created these art landscapes from PAPER! That is pretty impressive if you ask me. Creating art with paper is like baking a damn souffle. It’s so delicate that if one thing goes wrong the whole thing is ruined. The detail in Nishinaka’s work is incredible……down to the mane on the horse and busted face of the Sphinx. Next time we have arts and crafts at our house, maybe I’ll give Jeff a call. He’ll probably be like, ‘origami? That’s for babies!’ and then he’ll sashay away with a paper middle finger. Hahahah- I love making up fictional stories in my head!

French designer Raphaelle H’limi uses fabrics to its fullest potential by experimenting with textures and folding. There’s that 3D trend again….  Those glasses are pretty hilarious. It’s like these frames I once made for my place with beads, rhinestones and anything that resembled candy. My favorite out of the bunch is the first photo- looks very Japanese. I bet I could recreate that with picnic napkins… maybe not. H’limi interned for Emilio Pucci and Christian Dior at one time. That’s pretty major. She’s definitely one to watch!

This designer has master skills with the scissors. Belgic designer Alexandra Verschueren made these awesome creations involving everyday pieces of clothing, like a simple dress or coat. I love when fashion goes 3D. It seems like that 3D stuff is everywhere. Movies, Playboy centerfolds and fashion. At least you don’t need those ugly glasses to see the 3D in this collection. Yay. I would wear the 4th photo to a PTA meeting. No joke.

Designer Guo Pei is Hong Kong’s answer to Alexander McQueen. Cutting edge and beautiful, Pei is finds the balance between Eastern elegance and Western modernism. Those shoes are fan-friggin-tastic! And the dress in the last photo is gorgeous! If you drop an earring or something, you’ll never lose it! The blue and white gown reminds me of John Galliano- it’s stunning nonetheless. All this 3D origami designs going around is nice and all, but how do you sit? That’s the question of the day. Anyway, Pei is definitely one to watch! Watch his awesome fashion show below.

These hats are so cool! They remind me of that video game , Q*bert . I would play the arcade game at Pizza Hut when I was a kid. I was easy to please- an individual cheese pizza (earned by the ‘Bookworm’  contest), a soda and Q*bert and I was  All Set! I know, I was such a Geek!  By the way, the Bookworm contest was a contest where whoever read the most books would earn a pizza once a week. Yes, my motivation was PIZZA! It got my ass to read , though. (I would just read the back covers.) OFF TRACK- sorry. Anyway, those models must have a crane in the back of their head to keep the hats up!  Gorgeous!
