This is season the avant-garde designer had safaris, old cartoons, and aviation on his mind. It’s like vintage Moschino was reincarnated as Jean-Charles Castelbajac , which is a compliment to say the least. I’m digging the zebra shoulders, and Felix the Cat print (although those pajama pants need to go) and the trench coat/dress. I’m not sure if The Little Prince is popular in the US, but it is in Europe, so somewhere it’ll be a cool outfit. Of course, my favorite has to be the sunglasses vest. Kinda reminds me of that statue in Soho with multiple boobs.  Anyway, I still like the Castelbajac ode to The Muppets collection better.

First off- The designer that had to fill Alexander McQueen shoes must have been shitting her pants.

Secondly, She did a pretty good job.

Thirdly, that hair at the show was beyond SPECTACULAR! It was like a basket came to life! It was like a checkerboard – how did they do that? While I ponder this, I remember I had done a hair show in NYC ages ago and I was modeling for Paul Mitchell and they did a dye job exactly like that- a checkerboard. Blonde and brunette. Only thing was that I was a demonstration model, so after doing only one side of my hair they kicked my ass off stage! So, I was walking around with the most effed up hair west of the Port Authority. That’s saying a lot considering the area. Anyway, a Feria dye job later I was back to normal, but needless to say it was a scarring experience.

Anyway, this collection was great- my favorites are the orange dress with butterflies emerging from the collar and the greyish, white feather dress in the first photo. That gold and cream dress (photo 5)  was equally stunning, too. Still, it’s such a shame a huge talent is gone.

This season, Karl the Kaiser must have had inspiration strike as he watched his maid dust his 200 ipods. Why? Because feathers were everywhere at the Chanel Spring 2011 show! I personally love feathers and marabou and anything fluffy, furry and soft. So this is right up my alley! Specifically, the alley with the most stray Persian cats (do they even exist??) but that’s a different story. Anyway, although Chanel is one of my all-time favorite designers, this particular collection didn’t “wow” me enough. Seriously, the feathers saved Karl’s ass, because feathers make everything instantly fancy and precious. At least in my book and Alexis Carrington’s book ( coincidentally, we share similar books). When in doubt, add a feather- that’s my quote along with  183,464,503 drag queens.

Our favorite cheeky designer whipped out his 3D glasses for his collection. No one told him you don’t need 3D glasses with Beth Ditto! Kidding! She looks wonderful. Love her flapper-style hair, actually. I liked Gaultier’s latest collection, but I didn’t love love it. I was torn between the Joan Jett mullet and the David Bowie suit. It’s like, so cool from the neck down and Central Floridian trailer trash from the neck up.  I think my favorite out of the bunch was the peach corset in the fourth photo. Corsets are what Gaultier does best, in my opinion… wish there was more of that in this collection. Besides that, those pointy shoulders are pretty cool, too.

This season’s collection was a hodge-podge of great and terrible. The first photo with the face mask is pretty terrible… but the rest are not too bad. Especially, the taffeta heart-shaped tops – really unexpected and beautiful. The candy-striped dress is definitely something I would wear. Basically, if it looks like a carnival costume, I’ll wear it.  Those tights are pretty cool, too. Anyway, I’m glad Viv came away from the hobo-chic plaguing her last few seasons.

The poufy hair, the skinny pants, the bows , the ruffles… THE PINK! Oh, Behave! I’ll take ten of each please, in case one is in the wash. John Galliano did it again! It’s like Paris meets Austin Powers on a delicate spring day! I used to wear my hair like that about ten years ago before Snookie and Bumpits. I used this plastic coil that looked like a rabid squirrel’s tail to achieve ‘the pouf’. I always had a suspicious eye out for a menacing squirrel whenever I passed by a tree whenever I rocked ‘the pouf’. Enough about me. Galliano must have been playing with his Barbies (you know he does) while watching Paris …When it Sizzles” …or he had a “Nausea, heartburn, indigestion, upset stomach, diarrhea”?? I still love it!
