Heavens!! The Hello Kitty Carnival came to town (Santa Monica, CA) and naturally, I dropped everything and went. Seriously, I was turning Japanese by taking photos of every single detail. Here are a sliver of all the photos I took. It was like Sanrio exploded and each glitter turned into a damn carnival game. It was like the smoke became artwork with it’s own booth. It’s was like Twin Little Stars fluttered from the heavens and said, “Make mine a 99”. It was like…  I’ll stop there. But you get what I mean.

Anyway, there was a mini-golf, ferris wheel, carnival booths, artwork from famous artists, like Joe Ledbetter, a Hello Kitty pop-up shop (with a 2 hour wait to get in) and loads of food trucks, and yummy desserts. Pretty much what I expect in heaven when I kick the bucket. I hope God is taking notes.

Anywho, I wore a vintage mohair cape from Scotland, powder blue Hunter boots, Vivienne Westwood handbag, Benetton argyle knit skirt, and house ring by We Wear. My hair was an unfortunate experiment with my hot curlers- never again.

Semk has designed pillow speakers that make you want to cuddle with your music. My personal favorite are the cupcake speakers. Imagine blaring some Rammstein out of those babies! Especially, the panda. That would be one aaaanngryyyyy panda needing anger management class. Actually, I’d probably really play this with Cinnamoroll on repeat on my TV. I’m gonna have to ditch my Bose speakers for these. I mean,  style before function, right? Check out Semk for other cool stuff, including an entire range of things in the shape of a rubber ducky. Ernie just pissed himself.

They will be out this summer sometime and I’m sure it’s gonna be super popular. That’s the thing, when it becomes super popular, that’s when I don’t want it anymore… hopefully, it not too popular!

The cutest kitty on earth ( Mr. Marmar just gave me the evil eye) turns 35 this year! In celebration of this milestone, LA based, Japanese cosplay cafè, Royal- T, transformed their space into the magical and kitchy land of Hello Kitty and called it Hello Kitty: Three Apples. Various artworks from famous contemporary artists covered the walls paying homage to the curiously, cute feline with the oversized red bow.  On display were relics from past Hello Kitty merchandise going as far back as 1974 and fashion pieces made with Hello Kitty. As you may know, I am a humungous Hello Kitty fan, so walking into the space gave me sensory overload like no other kind. Basically, I want ape sh*t. I even bought the oversized, vinyl red bow headband for myself (and Mr. Marmar). If you are in the area, RUN to see this…. this is a must see for any Hello Kitty fan!

Click here to check out the video of the Hello Kitty exhibit for people who can’t get to LA before they remove the show.
