I thought it would be cool to kick 2011 off with some monsters! Lazy Oaf designed these mouthy sweaters with a zipper just in case you want to whip out the tongue during an argument or something. I know it’s so juvenile, but I would probably do it. Anyway, they come in blue and yellow, so you and your better half  can  stick out your monster tongues at each other at any given moment. Check out Lazy Oaf ‘s site for a guts sweater that could come in handy on a doctor’s visit. I mean, if a doctor doesn’t chuckle at that one, who will??

Japanese designer  Yuliya Wim Merlin creates whimsical knit creations that would make a cold, gloomy day smile. Being a fan of unique knitwear, Yuliya’s designs stood out from the rest of the ho-hum knitwear you see in some stores. I think the sushi sweater is brilliant, especially the 3D aspect of it. I would totally wear the piano dress to a fancy ballet recital or  something. The cherry dress looks very rockabilly and Betsey Johnson- ish.  Check out her Etsy shop. Can’t wait forSweataWheatha“!

MA Antwerp graduate Nathalie Fordeyn designed a fascinating collection called, “A Drummer In A Tree”. More like “A Q-tip in an Ear”. (I’ll show my way out…) Anyway, I find this collection refreshing because who knew grandma’s sweaters would look so cool wrapped around your head like a fishbowl? Personally, I’m a fan of knit-wear even though California weather never lets me unleash my knit collection, like ever. I can totally appreciate the time and energy to make these bulbous pieces. I’m digging the dome skirts, but fear that they may make my legs look thick. That’s the problem with knitwear, you have to be super skinny to wear it or you’ll just look like a cat lady from Minnesota that cites peanut butter as their favorite ‘food’. Having said that, I’d totally wear the second to the last photo in a blizzard.

Here is Part 2 of my favorites from UK’s Graduate Fashion Week 2010. The first photo reminds me Victor & Rolf, which I adore. The third and fourth photos look like straight up aliens. And the last four photos are wonderfully fun and childish, which I find appealing AND there are lots of Bows- yay! Love the robot tights and Pinocchio skirt, although her sweater looks like a fungus of some sort. I’d wear it.

I don’t think these sweaters by designer, Timothy James Andrews are frumpy at all. Before I go on, this dude has 3 first names. Moving on, Timothy worked for Burberry at one point so that makes him really good. I love the first photo with the red sweater and the goblet sleeves. It reminds me of The Tudors. Damn,  James knows how to knit! I have a French Aunt that can knit like nobody’s business! It’s too bad we live in hot California. Although, I’m not digging the balls in the second photo… they could look obscene.

Irina Shaposhnikova, who graduates from Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts next month, designed these wonderful knit creations. I love the sheer in the sweaters. It makes it look fashion forward and not dowdy. I love knitwear , but they tend to make me look fat, so I tend to stay away from them. However, I think these would look great on me. The hood is a great effect since you can also shoplift without giving away your identity. I like that. But you can’t really smuggle stuff under your sweater since it’s sheer. That’s a catch -22. I’d still wear it though. My cats would go to town on these sweaters, by the way.

Irregular Choice is one of my favorite shoe designers, I have several pairs of Irregular Choice shoes in my shoe collection. One of them is what I call my ‘camel toe heels’. I know, WTF is a ‘camel toe heel’?! Well, this masterpiece has a round toe but with a dent between the big toe and second toe, kinda like those Japanese socks. Click here if you have no idea what I mean. By the way, I can’t  not think of the song, ‘Cameltoe‘ from ‘Fannypack’. If you haven’t heard it, make sure you’re near a toilet when you do because you’ll piss yourself laughing. Anycameltoe, Blythe  teamed up with Irregular Choice to make a series of shoes with the wide-eyed doll featured on the shoe. I love it, but then again I love Dolls. I threw in an Emma Belle sweater for Irregular Choice. It has food like hamburgers, carrots and pizza on it. mmmm…
