You know what I like when I see a stuffy suit ? A touch of cool and unusual here and there whether it be in the cufflinks or tie/bowtie or in a punky haircut or something. As long as they don’t look like a used car salesman, I’m good.  So, boys….. check out Retro Classy Cufflinks for cool cufflinks that can make the worst suit look awesome! My son would go ape sh*t for the Star Wars legos. Speaking of, we had a Star Wars marathon at the house, which entailed of every damn star wars movie there ever was, homemade Star Wars gingerbread cookies, and of course, putting together a Star Wars lego battleship. It was pretty intense.  By the way, Ewoks RULE! Miss Darcheen has some Ewok in her,  methinks:

Right?!

If you always wanted Willie Nelson, Bob Ross (“happy trees”), Pee Wee Herman and the Royal Tenenbaums to star in your own finger puppet show, then you’ve come to right place. Check out these finger puppets by Abbey Christine. She’s got all the details right, down to the grey braids on Willie and the ‘fro-stache-beard on Bob Ross. These are things you whip out during that last excruciating hour of work at the cubicle. I’m sure she can do custom work, in case you always wanted finger puppets of Prince and the New Power Generation. I mean, that would be really cool – Prince, Mayte, those 2 chicks in the ‘Cream’ video, and all the other 30 band members. Right?!

LunaBlocks has taken a childhood delight and made it into an interior decorator’s nightmare! Seriously, every interior decorator I meet wants to transform every place into a Z Gallerie showroom. Ugh. The best part of these blocks is that you can make your own combinations to make the furniture of your childhood dreams! Each brick is about $20, so it’s not that cheap, but still well worth it if you have a passion for Legos. I like the tables the best and I would make all the bricks pink and black for a Barbie boudoir effect!

British designer Robert Bradford made these sculptures out of recycled pieces of toys, plastic junk, buttons, the bread tag that know one knows what to do with, clips and other stuff. I think it’s pretty cool, however, he should include cats in his collection, in my opinion. This is giving me ideas for all the small, tiny toys that my son accumulates from those Kinder Surprise eggs and vending machines. I mean, he has so many that I just dump it into a large cardboard box. Sometimes I see the cats rolling around in it, licking their butt. That can’t be good. One day, I say, that box full of plastic crap will morph into a sculpture for my son’s room.  Thanks, Rob!

Oslo designer Fam Irvoll is just my cup of tea! This fine lady (the ravishing fellow bottle -ginge above) names Alice in Wonderland, cakes, candies, cartoons and toys her inspiration for her wacky collections and 3D knitwear. Fam and I are cut from the same cloth! We could actually be twin sisters separated at birth!  Anyway, I am drooling over the 3D mouse sweater. It has an entourage of rats on the shoulder, sort of like Crispin Glover in Willard. That movie is my mantra, by the way. That and Ratatouille. What I love about this collection is that it’s so whimsical and cute! Lucky for me, she has an online store…

dzn_westminster-chiming-grandfather-clock-by-ryan-mc-elhinney-2 ryan-mcelhinney ryan_new-2-2

British designer,  Ryan McElhinney , made this Grandfather clock that chimes every 15 minutes for a client in Dubai. All I can picture is some oil sheik playing with He-man and Skeletor figurines while a harem of ladies are rolling their eyes and snapping their gum. Anyway, this masterpiece is covered in white  (I’m surprised it’s not in gold) paint and takes six weeks to make. Check out Ryan’s site for more cool stuff he made with toys, including a floor lamp and picture frame. If I had some cash to burn, I would have him make a naked Barbie grandfather clock in pink. That would be stellar!!

So, my brother referred me to this site that called Moist Productions. They have the coolest art by former Toy designer, Jason Freeny. I love how you can see their insides, because they are like you and me! I think I saw something like this at Colette. I wonder if it’s the same dude….hmmm. I collect Be@rbricks, but the Quee are cute , too. Yeah, I switched from Barbie dolls to Be@rbricks overnight after I was running out of space in my house. I need to collect something, so might as well be something compact, right? Anyway, Check out Freeny’s site for more cool art that I was not able to capture on my computer.
