For me, Valentino always seemed to be clothes for a lady of a certain age, but this collection proved that wrong. Dainty and feminine, each dress was beautiful and elegant with a touch of avant guard- just the way I like it. My favorites have to be the birdcage dress and the fourth dress. Of course, bows make it all irresistible! I think that birdcage dress is perfect for people with the mysterious case of the ‘sticky fingers’. That has Winona Ryder written all over it, also any toddler.

Whenever I’m in Paris, I make time to go to this cool boutique. Last time I was there, I picked up these mirrors cut out in the shape of French cartoon characters for my son’s room. Sooooo coooooool! They also have a website and are having a huge sale right now.

Here are my picks this month:

-Olympia Le Tan’s  minaudières (a box that looks like a book)

– Giuseppe Zanotti‘s ballet slippers with rhinestone bullets. Simultaneously dainty and bad ass.

Valentino x colette Limited Edition t-sirt. It’s supposed to be an orchid, but I like to think of it as rotten lungs.

Buffalo Toyz introduces a designer toy called ALYENZ . This is trouble for me because this would look fantastic next to my be@rbricks.

So this is Valentino’s Fall 2009 Haute Couture Collection. I like this , but I don’t LOOOOOOVE it. I feel like I’ve seen this somewhere else before but I can’t put my finger on it. The lace gown in the last photo is wonderful, but could pass for a Jessica McClintock gown. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, BUT it is supposed to be Haute Couture. Which means it probably costs more than your car. I think what draws me in are those masks… so mysterious, so Venetian… (like the casino) . No, I’m kidding. I like those masks/ hats… it’s a twofer! Is it me, or does the coat in the 2nd photo look Victor & Rolf-ish?
